The congregation of The United Church is thankful for God's abundant goodness to us. In response to God's love, we support many organizations and missionaries who care for and serve God's people in New Mexico and around the world. Each year we support each of our six denominations in their respective mission programs along with over 30 local, national and world missions. Additionally, we support individuals from our congregation who have been called to service as ministers to those in need, both in this country and around the world.
In addition to giving over 25% of our annual budget to missions, earnings from the Thrift Shop and WCSS Fall Bazaar are contributed to mission giving. At various times during the year, "love offerings" and designated gifts are taken to meet specific needs. Each fall we sponsor "Alternative Giving" projects for Christmas gifts. Each spring, many of our youth and adults participate in the Mexico Mission Trip to build homes for those in Juarez or Tijuana without adequate shelter. Our young children support the Heifer Project through their gifts.
The Mission Board, composed of members of the church and staff, does extensive research to determine which missions and organizations to support so that our dollars are thoughfully appropriated. Currently, we provide direct support to the following missionaries:
